THE TITLE ALONE DESERVES AN OSCAR. This fascinating sounding documentary has been doing the international film festival rounds and this month is premiered in New York.
Let’s not get too excited because no UK or Irish screening plans have been announced so far. Will it get a showing at all, even? Remember many films fail to pick up ANY distribution and may only especially if they are specialist be shown at film festivals even bearing in mind an encouraging development in recent years that jazz festivals are adding selected “jazz films” to their offerings.
Let’s hope the film — an Eric Friedler directed Wim Wenders executive-produced feature that charts the life and times of the Blue Note label founded in 1939 by Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff — wings its way in this direction before too long. There is schwinging to be done after all. A flavour to be going on with is above. WEBSITE.
