From the heart
Charming and from the heart. There's a truly special atmosphere found on this recording just issued by Brussels label, Igloo.
From Mons in Belgium saxophonist Fabrice Alleman, 57, made this likeable streaming/download live recording last year.
The Wallonian town of Dinant located in the Upper Meuse is the setting for a gig held during the festival held there playing the Abbey of our Lady of Leffe.
Soft and tender sounding Alleman is with pianist Nicola Andrioli - Jarrettonian in places like in Keith's Belonging band era - bassist Jean-Louis Rassinfosse and drummer Mimi Verderame.
Tunes on this new live album were earlier included on the with strings recording Spirit One: Clarity issued in 2022 on which the great Belgian guitarist Philip Catherine also appeared. Fans of that album will definitely not just want this but will need it.
The live sound quality and audience response is warm. It all provides lots of small pleasures especially for Alleman's subtle touch. And the way he can ease out little meanings and add plenty of feeling that his bandmates simply caress and enhance is enjoyable.
Tunes includes pieces by Alleman, Andriolo and 'Clément' by Philip Catherine.
There's a lot of hope on this spirited Dinant recording and Alleman and his bandmates know more than most how not only to express passion but also feel it deeply.
