We run the relative gamut from the avant (Patricia Brennan) to the jazz-rock fusion verging on smooth (Jeff Lorber and Mark Lettieri) in today's 10 calling at various stopping-off points in between.
German duo on scintillating form
The track we'd like to mention most is 'On the Bowery' a very appealing riff-heavy number from Cornelius Claudio Kreusch performing in a bluesy duo with Joscho Stephan on a track from their still to be released album Highwire. Kreusch is a German jazz pianist, composer, and producer who has worked in the jazz, classical, and world music domains. Born on 28 September 1968 in Munich, Kreusch studied under renowned jazz pianist Mal Waldron and attended Berklee in Boston. We loved his album Scoop which came out on ACT in 1998 but which you can't get for love or money nowadays as the issuing label say it's no longer available and there's only placeholder reference to it on Spotify. Compatriot Stephan is a prominent jazz guitarist, noted for his mastery of gypsy jazz and advocate of the legacy of Django Reinhardt. He was born on 23 June 1979 in Mönchengladbach. Stephan has performed at major jazz festivals worldwide and collaborated with leading musicians, including Tommy Emmanuel, Paquito D'Rivera, and Stochelo Rosenberg.
