From today's 10 check out the busy and engrossing 'French Horns' from November release Complex Emotions new from The Bad Plus to be issued this time around by US label Mack Avenue. Switching from the UK Edition label who issued their first album as a quartet entitled The Bad Plus in 2022 following on from labelmate Activate Infinity (2019) featuring pianist Orrin Evans who was also on Never Stop II on the Legbreaker label the previous year The Bad Plus for many years also operated as a piano trio firstly when Ethan Iverson was in the hit band. Bassist Reid Anderson, drummer Dave King, guitarist Ben Monder and reedist Chris Speed on this upcoming album play tunes written by all four members. 'French Horns' is an Anderson tune.
