Selected jazz tracks to discover today. Updated daily.

Our focus drawn from the list today is a track by the vibist, improviser, composer Patricia Brennan taken from her upcoming album Breaking Stretch issued by the Pyroclastic label. It's an album that includes the former Vijay Iyer classic trio drummer Marcus Gilmore and trumpeter Adam O'Farrill among the personnel. The tune we select, it shares creative provenance in common with all the compositions on the album, is a piece written by the Mexico born US player Brennan. It's called 'Palo de Oros' meaning 'Suit of Coins'. Bassist Kim Cass is significant in the piece at the beginning before the furiously buzzing ensemble play later. The album was recorded last year at Power Station Berklee in New York.
