New in the 1 Love Track of the Day spot is a slice of Ellingtonia from the much missed pianist Michel Petrucciani (1962-1999) one of Europe's greatest ever jazz pianists, and veritable little giant of the music playing the Duke's 'In a Sentimental Mood' drawn from the September release Solo in Denmark. The French pianist was famously credited with persuading Charles Lloyd out of retirement while the hippie jazz eminence was living in an extended deep seclusion in Big Sur - years after his historic 1960s triumphs with Keith Jarrett, Cecil McBee and Jack De Johnette. Hitherto unreleased the recording dates to 1990. The venue was a Silkeborg church - Silkeborg is less than 50km from Aarhus. Petrucciani's treatment is thunderingly expansive and generous.
