From November release Dream Band: Live in London (Whirlwind) - oh the suspense - recorded at the Vortex last year UK saxist Alex Hitchcock does have his cake and eat it on 'Cakeism'. During eight minutes of a certain kind of bliss he folds in during a riot of activity that notably includes a fabulous piano solo from Kit Downes and some involving guitar lines from Ant Law plus of course Hitchcock's own energetic soloing. The live recordings saw three different ''dream bands'' recorded over 3 nights at the London club. Musicians participating in the first band included trumpeter Mark Kavuma while another trumpeter James Copus is factored in for the second band and Alexandra Ridout again on trumpet is in the third among the all-round stellar lineups found throughout. Nils Petter Molvær returns to the UK with a Ronnie Scott's show on release day, 6 October - details
