I really liked the less-is-more pristine, at times quite moving quality delivered so effectively on 'No Man's Land' drawn from Lost Songs out next week. The rest of the album is just as good. This Norwegian band who debuted a couple of years ago are led by guitarist Michael Aadal with André Kassen, saxophone, Audun Ramo, bass and Gunnar Sæter on drums revels in an ECM-type sound world carefully built around appealing shards of melody and an organic sense of flow. They play Hope Street Jazz in Liverpool on 19 April, Band On The Wall in Manchester on 21st April and Hyde Park Jazz Club, Leeds, on the 22nd. SG
