Track of the day and new in the 1 luv spot drawn from Outside In Music 4 November digital/streaming release Same Moon in the Same World the work of the rocket science guitar innovator Ant Law and Dream Band sax shooting star Alex Hitchcock very much a pastoral vision - 'Don't Wait Too Long' has a woody textural feel as Law chooses a Methenyian path in the bedrock of the sound. The layers of production endow the track with a full, substantial depth of field. The vibist on the track Joel Ross whose delicious Blue Note album The Parable of the Poet was released in the spring plays a significant role while the great reedist Tim Garland (Lammas, Earthworks, Acoustic Triangle, Chick Corea) is also contrapuntally in the mix so piquant. The Mehldauian, ex-Chick, the very influential Jeff Ballard is on drums and Metheny Unity Group ace Ben Williams rules the roost on bass. In a word - superb. 'Dream Another' and 'Seventh String' are the tracks that we like most here new from drummer bandleader Makaya McCraven. Fine guitar from Jeff Parker is an album feature and a very serenely arranged strings component and harp input permeate the atmosphere led quite properly from the drums. Son of Archie Shepp drummerSteve McCraven Makaya has become a popular bandleader all over the place in the last decade carrying the music on to new generations and old hands alike with his bespoke sense of beat displacement and accents. In These Times features a big cast of players among these harp star Brandee Younger. For some of McCraven's most enjoyable work to date check out the remix of 'Frank's Tune' which came out last year.

- Jeff Parker plays The Sugar Club in Dublin on 1 November
