Once again a remix switches the action from the main gig room if you like to the lounge bar. So in other words you could happily hear Carrtoons' remix of Butcher Brown's 'Frontline' in the background in an ultra-relaxed lounge. 'Frontline' was originally on #KingButch that the US band released last year. I didn't enjoy the part-Butcher Brown SuperBlue collaboration with Kurt Elling more recently so very much. And while remixes aren't something I usually think much about given that they are built for passive not active listening this actually works much better than the Elling particularly if you are a Butcher Brown fan. Carrtoons operates in hip-hop and soul and it's a meeting of minds in drawing this all together elongating the groove's staying power and making it that bit more anthemic. SG
