2020 will see the publication of a new book authored by Maria Golia and titled Ornette Coleman: The Territory and the Adventure.

The definitive book on the subject is John Litweiler's Ornette Coleman: The Harmolodic Life published in 1992. Given how long ago that came out and that we are approaching five years since Coleman's death in 2015 a badly needed update and fresh voice on the subject is timely because further study beyond the numerous PhD theses written on Ornette [including in 2016 by Nathan A. Frink] is surely needed. After all Coleman casts a giant shadow on jazz globally still as a pioneer of ''free-jazz.''

Golia was something of an insider having managed the Caravan of Dreams Performing Arts Center in Fort Worth in Ornette Coleman’s home state of Texas. North London firm Reaktion are publishing the book in hardback and as an ebook in March .
