Mega-chops all round in a blistering hard bop space Swing On This motors high performance and true. To be released on Friday the album is archetypal Criss Cross. The title track is a fast and furious George Fontenette number while Swing on This pianist/keyboardist David Kikoski contributes 'Pythagoras'. Mingus Big Band kingpin bassist Boris Kozlov tune 'Moonbay' is also in the selections while Alex Sipiagin tunes, Donald Edwards numbers and a Bobby Watson piece also figure. Seamus Blake last heard in Sligo in Kevin Brady's band at a thinly attended theatre gig before the Yule is once again in this different context simply outstanding.

Re Bob in that Watsonian instance dear Sherlocks reading this 'In Case You Missed It' goes back to Buhaina's early-1980s Album of the Year (Timeless) period when Wynton was also in the Messengers.
