Easily the best album we have heard this week and also easily the best showing yet for Enemy approaching a decade since this imaginative piano trio has been together. You get the sense on this recording made in a Berlin studio last year that nothing is off limits as the pulse develops and the tunes become increasingly rugged and determined. Kit Downes, Petter Eldh and James Maddren have shifted to a new label for this release and the original material by Downes and Eldh is stronger than ever.

From November release Dream Band: Live in London (Whirlwind) - oh the suspense - recorded at the Vortex last year UK saxist Alex Hitchcock does have his cake and eat it on 'Cakeism'. During eight minutes of a certain kind of bliss he folds in during a riot of activity that notably includes a fabulous piano solo from Kit Downes and some involving guitar lines from Ant Law plus of course Hitchcock's own energetic soloing. The live recordings saw three different ''dream bands'' recorded over 3 nights at the London club. Musicians participating in the first band included trumpeter Mark Kavuma while another trumpeter James Copus is factored in for the second band and Alexandra Ridout again on trumpet is in the third among the all-round stellar lineups found throughout.
