Very talented new acoustic sax/piano/bass/drums quartet Friendy are worth getting to know in the run-up to the release of their excellent debut album Friendy Fire in November. The material has strong clear lines and logical structures and if you like James Farm you'll be well on your way to detouring into Friendy's own style. From Israel, in recent years based in the US, the band have hooked up with GSI Records run by the long-time Charles Lloyd drummer Eric Harland who will be releasing the record. The band's members Zohar Amar (sax), Noam Borns (piano), Daniel Ashkenazy (bass), and Shai Yuval (drums) have played together for over a decade and listening to the album their rapport and understanding of what it means to play as a band clearly shines through.
