Known for his work with Gary Burton as a member of the vibes icon's 1970s era group who recorded The New Quartet and as a teacher for decades at top US music college Berklee and as an author Mick Goodrick - sometimes known by students as ''Mr Goodchord'' died at home in Boston of Covid complications aged 77. Goodrick also had Parkinson's.

A faculty member at both Berklee and the New England Conservatory of Music, his students included future icons of the music John Scofield, Bill Frisell and Mike Stern and Goodrick's published books included Advancing Guitarist: Applying Guitar Concepts & Techniques.
