Last time marlbank compiled a top labels selection, the ''Labels completely on fire at the moment'' snapshot was February. My, how things change. And yet amid the reshuffling two venerable labels (33 from the UK and ECM from Germany) from that list make it into our latest. Here are 8 ''on fire'' outfits based only on recent/upcoming output that we rate particularly highly

1 Red Hook, from County Cork, Ireland. Note first release is not even out but augurs extremely well. 2 Cadillac, from London mainly for the upcoming, magnum opus, Evan Parker release All Knavery and Collusion. 3 577 from New York Mainly for the superb The Secret Handshake with Danger, Vol. One. 4 ECM. For Entendre. 5 Whirlwind from London. For Afrofuturism. 6 Sunnyside from New York For the new Michael Wolff. It has taken a decade for the live in LA gem to emerge. 7 33 Jazz For Stormy Emotions, the Luton label has had a few good records already in 2021, best of which is this from Sarah Moule. 8 CAM Jazz, from Italy. For piano trio album, Sly, from which a track image appears top.
