From March release Jump here's a track that has the x factor so often sought, rarely found especially given that the material is so pared back. There is no pianist or guitarist so the Argentinian tenor saxophonist has her work cut out but stamps her personality on proceedings very dynamically. Reminiscent of Melissa Aldana although dreamier and edgier and for that latter factor if you're into Mark Turner you will probably like this too certainly given how laconic the playing style is. With bassist Matt Dwonszyk springy and convincing on the track and a drummer who we have been pushing on this site for a while in Jonathan Barber and making an intelligently understated but vibrant contribution as he spars with the accented feel and swaying sense of motion, there is a lot going on during this rendition of a Eugenio composition that introduces a new sound you'll need – post-haste – to immerse yourselves in.
