Warner Music are to release Personal Belongings by pianist Omer Klein in the autumn and first stirrings from the album are heard on 'Najara,' a beautiful piano solo piece that introduces a dreamy taste of what to expect.

Described as ''an evocation of the Jewish liturgical poet Israel Najara, whose poetry of longing inspired Klein to compose one of his most haunting themes'' the piece was recorded in the German city of Osnabrück towards the end of last year. Israel ben Moses Najara (1555-1625) was from a rabbinical family originally from Nájera in northern Spain. Klein's earlier work includes Warner releases Radio Mediteran (2019) and Sleepwalkers (2017).

Mournful and bleak, powerfully effective solo trumpet begins 'Nearly Invisible Stitches' the latest from Norwegian innovator Nils Petter Molvær, a certain counterpoint building up further on with bass guitarist Jo Berger Myhre in a production swirl of cloudy electronic texture, drummer Erland Dahlen softly and achingly keeping time while the pedal steel guitar of Johan Lindstrøm later takes the piece in an Americana direction before a further switch and a more driving beat from Dahlen envelops to usher eventually into NPM changing the texture of his trumpet for the sound to become more metallic and intense.

Drawn from Stitches (a 27 August release on Modern) a collaboration with Dahlen, Myhre and guitarist Johan Lindstrøm, recorded partly at Ocean on Giske, a residential studio that marlbank visited back in 2013 when NPM showed us around, the album includes 3 pieces from 'Frameworks' a 2021 Kongsberg Jazz Festival commission and a version of Radiohead’s ballad 'True Love Waits' a song that dates back to the mid-1990s issued on live album I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings in 2001 and later the last track on A Moon Shaped Pool (2016). NPM is gigging this summer with Myhre and Dahlen.
