'The Creator Has a Master Plan' sax supremo Pharoah Sanders - last survivor to use jazz parlance in the mighty century-shattering trinity of the father, son and holy ghost analogy that posits John Coltrane as the father, Pharoah, now 81, the son - and Albert Ayler the holy ghost - is to appear this summer at Gilles Peterson's bucolic Abbots Ripton outdoors festival in Cambridgeshire.

Sanders' moving 2021 album Promises with Floating Points and the London Symphony Orchestra was a considerable succès d'estime. Also notable on the bill are Kokoroko, The Comet Is Coming, Emma-Jean Thackray, Nala Sinephro and the Kahil El'Zabar quartet. Dates are 25-28 August. Tickets
