Guitar icon John Scofield turns 70 today. Sco, as he is universally known among fans, from 1970-1973 studied at Berklee and was a member of the Billy Cobham-George Duke band and later the Gary Burton quartet and Dave Liebman quintet. From 1982-1985 he toured the world and recorded with Miles Davis. Since then he has built up via his own recordings and collaborations a big fanbase worldwide. Sco is regarded as one of the world's greatest jazz guitarists, held in the same kind of esteem as Pat Metheny and Bill Frisell both of whom he has collaborated with on recordings down the years.
