What's the sound of satisfaction? Look at who's breezed in for a clue. 'Who Shot John' is a strong candidate. From Vessels of Wood and Earth by guitarist Dan Wilson produced by Christian McBride for the Philadelphian jazz icon's own Brother Mister label. Album personnel include a range of leaders in their own right as you'll find pianist Christian Sands, bassist Marco Panascia, “Tain” Watts on drums and guest singer Joy Brown playing a part. Christian says of Wilson: ''He has an enviable technique that comes so seemingly easy to him and his pocket is very deep.'' Wilson has even toured in McBride's own Tip City trio, an accolade in itself.

Hailing from Akron, Ohio, Wilson's records to date include To Whom It May Concern and Balancing Act. Think George Benson a bit for partial emanation in terms of sheer calibre in Wilson's approach and there are delicious Burrellian flavours too all ready among more to discern. Vessels of Wood and Earth is to be released on 23 April
