Bathed in gnawa washing over the accessible mix of influences Electric Jalaba have El Hal: The Feeling out on 12 March. Singer and guimbri/krakeb player Simo Lagnawi, bassist Olly Keen, keys player Henry Keen, guitarist Nathaniel Keen, singer Barnaby Keen and drummer Dave De Rose form the band. Back in 2012 the EJs issued their first record Introducing Electric Jalaba followed three years later by Merhaba. This new album to be issued by Strut has a few tracks up heralding release that are definitely worth wrapping your ears around to jump up to speed before the whole album drops. The pick is easily the shimmeringly grooving 'Cubaili Ba' for its elastic energy and hurtling flow. A hot crossover prospect retaining strong multi-idiom spanning credibility no matter what specifically you are into of special appeal to world music, dance and jazz heads open to the bigger picture the sounds so far suggest. Streaming tonight choice at 7.45pm Dublin-London time Phelan Burgoyne trio play Paul Motian for the Vortex stream at the Sands zoning in on 2010's Lost in a Dream.

Phelan's 'On Thursday,' the bittersweet ballad and beautiful lead-off track from his upcoming album also of the same name, is to be issued by the Swiss label, Hout.

The English drummer is known for his work with the distinguished Konitzian Martin Speake, in the trio to play the stream, and already slowly but surely is gathering the reputation of being something of an auteur himself.
