Nothing is rotten in the state of Denmark the Bard did not say. By going deeper into the album the more you want to stick around. The guitarist Rasmus Oppenhagen Krogh septet's very fine album Whereabouts is original sounding. Take 'Triangular'. Firstly, Krogh does not sound like Jakob Bro and this is not a ''new Cool school'' record. It is more rock-electronica sounding, possibly a bit prog and certainly blissed out but jazz soaked. Tingvall trio bassist Omar Rodriguez Calvo with his fellow Cuban, the distinguished pianist Ramón Valle and drummer Jamie Peet from the Netherlands, are on a rewardingly intense and very convincing version of the great Leonard Cohen song 'Hallelujah.'

Drawn from Inner State, to be issued by the In + Out label, arriving two years on from the Valle trio's The Time is Now featuring the much missed Roy Hargrove, the live album is to be released on 20 November. Recorded at venues that included the leading Vienna jazz club Porgy & Bess, tracks include a heartfelt tribute to Valle's late mother.

Regarding the Leonard Cohen cover, Valle has commented: '''With this song by Leonard Cohen, I began to hear stories behind the lyrics, and I developed a contrasting bass line as a second story. In this way, I managed to master the challenge of interpreting this melody without singing.''
