With a tough very brassy almost cop show 1970s feel to it 'Blues' introduces Tales From The Jacquard, Julian Siegel's hard blowing big band work formed around a ''Jacquard suite'' (a Jacquard machine involving punched cards is used in lace making machines) on which the saxophonist is joined by his jazz orchestra, a galaxy of top mainstream and avant talents from an intergenerational array of UK talent conducted by Nick Smart of the Royal Academy of Music and with Jason Yarde and Stan Sulzmann among the array of stellar reedists.
