Latest listening in these parts is Haven, a very pleasant surprise, pianist Sean Foran, known for his work with Trichotomy and Stuart McCallum, in an elegant new vocals and vibes flavoured project with singer Kristin Berardi, saxophonist Rafael Karlen and the great Luxembourg vibist Pascal Schumacher.

While the record, to be issued by the Australian label Earshift, is not out until November, singles have been appearing at regular intervals. Dreamjazz for sure and a positive new direction for Foran. Check out 'Ripple' ahead of the album's release.

Quite a few luminaries from the Danish jazz scene participate on Whereabouts, this fascinating new album on April Records from guitarist Rasmus Oppenhagen Krogh which is to be released in October, musicians from the likes of Girls in Airports and the Jakob Bro band are all on board. A couple of tracks are streaming on Bandcamp at the moment and I'd thoroughly recommend checking them out. There is an otherworldly nature to the album with fine, airy, lead melody lines and an open organic quality to the way each track unfolds. 'Fragments' has a sustained melancholy to it that lingers long and does an awful lot with a stripped back sound; 'For Keeps' is more rhythmic and again blessed with an astonishing melodic top line. What a find.
