It has not taken long for Sarathy Korwar to become a major artist, 'major' in the sense that the tabla player-drummer-percussionist producer DJ is of major interest to anyone interested at all in jazz and how it connects with music from the Indian subcontinent. The Upaj Collective understand him best and this is an incredible record sophisticated in its sound production organic in its realisation. Sarathy is on drums with Tamar Osborn playing saxophone; Achuthan Sripathamanathan, violin; Giuliano Modarelli, guitar; Alistair MacSween, on keyboards. I hope they all can go on the road some time and bring this incredible music to the people where it belongs up close and personal.
