Summer release for the Matt Anderson quartet album's The Town and the City

A heads up for now on fine UK saxophonist Matt Anderson who has a new album out this summer entitled The Town and the City now set for a July release. Anderson last heard by this blog playing with Matt Roberts at Ronnie Scott's towards the end of last year has pianist Alberto Palau, bassist Will Harris and drummer Jay Davis with him on the record. His third album arrives four years on from Rambling which features the same group (pictured above). Anderson, who grew up in North Yorkshire, writes most of the pieces on the album.

The Royal College of Music's percussion festival to be held on 8 May is to include private lessons, performances by junior ensembles and experienced professionals, an all-day trade fair, and interactive sessions. Marking its 10th anniversary in 2022 the special guest is rock, jazz, funk and fusion drummer Benny Greb. The line-up also features Owen Gunnell, Anders Åstrand, RCM Drum kit professor Ralph Salmins, alumni Kizzy Brooks and Will Edwards and members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra timpani and percussion Section.
