You can't easily quantify the impact The Necks can have on you. Formed of pianist Chris Abrahams, bassist Lloyd Swanton and drummer Tony Buck, the Australian band are lauded for their experimental approach beyond modalism approaching a minimalism of their own design that elides oblique shards of melody and the intimation if not the full realisation of beat into a continuous stream. 'Imprinting' is typical of their long form genre-less work but does not exert as firm a headlock on you as The Necks at times can. Casting an intense pulsar spell nevertheless - even the most talented hypnotist would beg for mercy in their considerable wake. From Travel out on Northern Spy in February. Photo: Bandcamp
