2022 is proving a bumper year so far for fans of saxophonist David Binney. Following the release of A Glimpse of the Eternal in January some tracks are now streaming from a further release Tomorrow's Journey out on the Ghost Note label in May. With Binney on the album are pianists Luca Mendoza and Paul Cornish, bassists Ethan Moffit and Logan Kane, drummer Benjamin Ring, percussionist Kenny Wolleson, and brass players Aaron Janik and Jon Hatamiya. Mainly new compositions of Binney's the saxist describes the album as “the most musically intricate acoustic project'' that he has worked on. The album also includes the piece 'Call Culture' co-written by Binney and acclaimed trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire.

As part of this year's proms just announced The South African Jazz Songbook on 28 August is to feature Siyabonga Mthembu, ESKA, above, Soweto Kinch and Theon Cross and the Metropole Orkest. Later Norwegian saxophonist and composer Marius Neset will also appear on 3 September making his Proms debut with the London Sinfonietta to perform new commission 'Geyser'.
