Very interesting archive release in store this autum announced by Gearbox with this first particular issuing of a Johnny Griffin Ronnie Scott's live recording from the 1960s.

To be released in November, Live at Ronnie Scott's 1964 is from Gerrard Street, the original home of the club, and has US sax master Griffin (1928-2008) with UK pianist Stan Tracey (1926-2013), bassist Malcolm Cecil (1937-2021) and Scotland born drummer Jackie Dougan (1930-1973).

Newly mastered the tapes were recorded at the club by Les Tomkins and the sleeve features a Val Wilmer photograph while liner notes are by Richard Williams.

Drawn from Where the Branches Begin out next month 'Connected' has a deft and subtle jazz-rock ambient pulsar feel to it and is new from Barcelona-based Irish composer and producer bassist David Duffy. Duffy is with saxist Emil Nerstrand, pianist Marc Martin and drummer Davie Ryan on the release which was recorded in Spain in 2021. The whole album has a wistful, dreamy, pastoral atmosphere and all the tracks flow easily to feed the greater whole - certainly worth discovering on release. Another track from the album 'Pulse' is also streaming.
