Recorded in Santa Barbara at the Lobero the saxophone shaman, icon of the music and inspiration firstly to the generation that turned on, tuned in and dropped out – and to the sky-dreamers since inspired by his rebirth ushered in by Michel Petrucciani who made a pilgrimage to coax the saxophonist out of retirement and express himself to the world once again initially on the ECM label, the great Memphisian Charles Lloyd is on homesoil in California on this upcoming triple album 8: Kindred Spirits (Live From the Lobero) a concert that in 2018 marked his 80th birthday and which is to be released on St Valentine's day.

Personnel joining the Forest Flower legend include guitarist Julian Lage, pianist Gerald Clayton, bassist Reuben Rogers, and drummer Eric Harland + the 'Green Onions' organist Booker T. Jones and bassist Don Was, best known for his tenure in Was (Not Was) and as president of the issuing label Blue Note, Kindred Spirits is to be released in different versions including a limited-edition boxset containing 3-LPs, 2-CDs, DVD + book and special commemorative prints.
