WBGO have reported the death in a Philadelphian hospital from kidney failure of vibist Khan Jamal who was 75. Jamal had a recording career that stretched back to the 1970s and was known for his free-jazz and spiritual-jazz style. He co-founded Sounds of Liberation with Byard Lancaster and was a member of Sunny Murray's group Untouchable Factor. Labels he recorded for included Steeplechase, Storyville, CIMP and Stash.
