Two of the actor musicians in The Eddy have a new album Y Pati hoving into view and worth your time and spondulix.

Pianist Randy Kerber ''Randy'' as his character is in the series co-leads with Montreal-born Haitian reedist/horn player Jowee Omicil, ''Jowee.''

We're a fan already particularly of the Milesian 'Ascenseur 2020,' one of the tracks streaming ahead of release. It would be derelict of marlbank not to mention Louis Malle's classic 1958 film Ascenseur pour l'échafaud that featured music by Miles Davis and the track chimes with that sensibility, and Paris, perfectly. So fear not, duly mentioned.

Actually all of the tracks so far have their own merits. Jowee sings his own lyrics memorably on the trad-jazz 'Grenadié' after a nod to Ennio Morricone all antique and jangly with a good Sidney Bechet-type horn part as the track progresses against an amiably dragging beat chugging along, while 'Acacia' is smooth, Jowee going Grover all over Randy getting down winningly on Fender Rhodes.
