One of the great pianists, Alan Broadbent, returns with a new trio record this autumn. Trio in Motion finds Broadbent with his New York Notes trio of bassist Harvie S and drummer Billy Mintz. Opener 'Wonder Why,' the Nicholas Brodszky, Sammy Cahn song covered by the likes of George Shearing in the 1950s, is streaming ahead of Savant putting out the album at the end of September. Other tracks on the standards strewn album are: I Hear You, Lennie's Pennies, Struttin' with Some Barbecue, Late Lament, Relaxin' at Camarillo, One Morning in May, I Love You, Lady Bird, Like Sonny, The Hymn and Moonstones.
