A Brazilian big band record isn't something that comes along very often - and welcome it is too. Featuring the warm voice of Dani Gurgel, think a vocal sound somewhere between Flora Purim and Astrud Gilberto, and her mother Debora on piano with a big band that adds a certain vintage glamour to the sound touching in on baião and sambas. The brightly compelling arrangement on 'Quiet Little Lady' and labyrinthine scatting that follows is a distinct highlight of this studio album recorded in Brazil last year that will delight many - us included.
