TRACK OF THE DAY:

Unwrapped and just around the corner the jazz strand at Glasgow trad folk-and-beyond festival Celtic Connections in 2023 includes Bab L'Bluz with Síomha (20 January, Oran Mòr), Fergus McCreadie with Maeve Gilchrist & Mr McFall's String Quartet (20 Jan, the Mackintosh church), Juliette Lemoine with Matt Carmichael, Fergus McCreadie and Charlie Stewart (21 Jan, City Halls), Martin Taylor with Norman Willmore & Dave Milligan (22 Jan, the Mackintosh church) and Paul Towndrow Trio with James Lindsay (3 February, Drygate Brewery). Cellist and composer Juliette Lemoine debuts with Soaring in January. The rhapsodic and very special 'Persian Omelette' the way it unpeels and develops its own Caledonian zen streaming ahead of release takes its name from an item on the menu of Glasgow's Cafe Hula, highly meaningful to Lemoine dating back to her student days.
