Track of the day is the driving frenzied freebop of 'Boogie' from Norwegian drummer Gard Nilssen and his band Acoustic Unity's Elastic Wave. Comprising Nilssen with reedist André Roligheten, heard here in a John Surman-like sound swirl and double bassist Petter Eldh formidable this year on Vermillion, studio album Elastic Wave was recorded in France and is to be released on 15 July. Also on are sax star Nubya Garcia above, multi-instrumentalist / vocalist Emma-Jean Thackray and the band Nubiyan Twist from among the wave of newer UK names to have built up strong followings and clocked up record sales in recent years.
