As reported already on marlbank pianist Bruno Heinen has signed to Martin Hummel's Ubuntu label and ushers in his band The W which features superb Cinematic Orchestra singer Heidi Vogel in the line-up for his first outing on the London label the EP Live at Kings Place. With Bruno and Heidi are bassist Andrea di Biase and drum star Gene Calderazzo known for his sterling work with the now disbanded cult jazz-rock outfit Partisans. Tunes are Heinen's. 1957's Mingus Three is to be reissued next month with additional unreleased tracks an issuing that marks the 100th anniversary of Mingus’ birth. Rhino/Parlophone are putting out the album which features Mingus with pianist Hampton Hawes and drummer Dannie Richmond. Eight previously unreleased session recordings are included on the release discovered recently in the London Parlophone vaults. The music comes in a replica of the original record sleeve issued by Jubilee Records and a booklet featuring photos from the era.
