Returning to the Lobero with his Ocean trio for a stream and where Charles Lloyd – saxophone shaman, inspiration to the hippies who turned on, tuned in and dropped out, and to dreamers everywhere since – this year via Blue Note released a triple album recorded at the Santa Barbara theatre two years ago titled 8: Kindred Spirits (Live From the Lobero) that marked his 80th birthday. The Ocean trio has Happening pianist Gerald Clayton who was on Kindred Spirits and the open-eared guitarist Anthony Wilson known as a mainstreamer and heard on record recently on the latest Diana Krall.
