The infectiously grooving 'Blue' introduces pianist Joey Alexander's new album this autumn. Entitled Continuance which is remarkably the twentysomething pianist/composer's 7th album, here there's tender mellow trumpet lines from Theo Croker and bubbling bass from Kris Funn with John Davis keeping a firm tilt on drums as Alexander's hooky licks and melodic twists & turns complete the recipe. The album contains 5 new Alexander originals plus the band's take on Bonnie Raitt number 'I Can't Make You Love Me' and the venerable hymn 'Great Is Thy Faithfulness'. US jazz indie Mack Avenue are releasing Continuance on 3 November.
