The spoken word elements from Grace Lee Boggs, Ruby Sales and Jane Goodall are interesting and considered. However, spoken word aspects on instrumental albums always distract and when they are successful - and yet these are - here tend to leave the instrumentalists in their wake and that happens a bit. That's a pity but let it go. What the sax, bass, drums combination of Josh Arcoleo, Jasper Høiby, Marc Michel achieve is very listenable to, driving from free-bop into a further sphere. The title track is kept to the end and shows Arcoleo's incredible maturity as a player. He is still all these years on still too underknown although this band surely ups the saxist's profile again. Eco-focused and wise as ever Høiby leads from the bass on a track like 'Onwards' with monster ostinato rumbles and alert drumming from ever agile Michel poised and tensile. More reading: Planet B
