Lucid Dreamers Band 2

A big heads up here for a record scarcely off our player recently to be released next month. Blink is the latest from highly original singer and composer Brigitte Beraha with her Lucid Dreamers band. The songs are very strong, certainly poetic and allowing lots of space for interplay between voice and soloing instrument, and are partly composed and partly the result of improv sessions. Beraha is with saxist George Crowley, pianist Alcyona Mick and drummer Tim Giles. The album is to be released on the Let Me Out Records label.

One feature of Blue Note Records in recent years has been its desire to bring back veterans once signed to the famous label to the fold. And the latest to return is organist Ronnie Foster, a half century after Two Headed Freap (itself to be reissued next month in the Classic Vinyl Reissue Series) with plans for a summer release after Foster recorded for the label in Los Angeles. Foster in addition to 5 albums for Blue Note was also on such classics as Stevie Wonder's Songs In The Key Of Life and has been extensively sampled by hip-hop artists notably A Tribe Called Quest who sampled Foster's 'Mystic Brew.' Blue Note President Don Was says that Foster “returns to the label 50 years later with more heart, soul, and groove than ever. We’re thrilled to welcome him back.”
