There's an intriguing new direction on tenor saxophonist and composer JD Allen's new album of originals This to be issued in the autumn with 'Boom-Bap' our new track of the week, a piece that certainly provides a firm idea of where he's at. No stranger to the UK scene in recent years US saxist Allen has UK players drummer Gwilym Jones and electronics boffin Alex Bonney on the album which was recorded in south London earlier this year. Allen's long time label Savant are putting the album out in November.
