A tantalising new track here, the title track of The Unidentifiable a trio record from free-jazz piano star Matthew Shipp due in September on the historic ESP-Disk label.

It provides an interesting perspective on Shipp, and rather than the very out there pure free style we usually hear Shipp inhabit this has a roaming loosely swinging sound in the tradition of early Cecil Taylor and you can even think of Bud Powell when you listen hard.

The recording is a studio affair made in late-2019 in New York, Shipp with Michael Bisio on bass and Newman Taylor Baker that swinging presence on drums.
