Jazz pianist Nils Kavanagh has won the first running of the Young Irish Jazz Musician prize in Limerick winning a bursary and performance opportunities as part of the prize. The competition included six finalists aged between 17 and 22. Kavanagh is currently studying jazz performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.
