Going trad on Albert’s Blues & The 44 Gerrard Street Session in September London jazz indie Cadillac are bringing out a lively reissue of traditional jazz by the iconic New Orleans clarinettist and vocalist Albert Nicholas (1900-1973).

Cadillac note that besides additional unheard Brussels tracks on the release there is unissued material included that has Nicholas and the English jazz trumpet icon Humphrey Lyttelton with his band drawn from an acetate recorded at the Richardson's Rehearsal Rooms on Gerrard Street made on 4 January, 1956.

Gerrard Street, in Chinatown, close to Leicester Square and hard by the Charing Cross Road, as a location is important in UK jazz history because on the same street three years later Ronnie Scott's opened its doors for the first time before later decamping to Frith Street a short walk away beyond Shaftesbury Avenue and into Soho itself.
