Fans of UK 1990s era hard bop trumpeter Gerard Presencer will be interested in this release as Gerard pops up in sizeable helpings on Danish saxophonist Andreas Toftemark's very retro La Gare in a quartet setting recording in Copenhagen where Toftemark who sounds a little like UK scene player Brandon Allen on some tracks (especially 'Dagmar') is also joined by bassist Matthias Petri, pianist Calle Brickman and drummer Andreas Svendsen. Mostly originals of the leader's, and very apealing they are too, all cleanly caputured in the fine audio recording sound, 'November in Paris' has a Jazz Messengers feel to it and the ballad 'Waltz For Alex' is a real achievement - the album title itself refers to a Paris jazz club.
