Joe Harriott, John Dankworth, Peter King, Nathaniel Facey, Soweto Kinch and nestled in this pantheon of UK alto-sax greats Martin Speake has a big quartet tour coming up, a 29 Feb appearance too smuggled in, one that only comes round once, furtively consulting the calendar, every four years to boot. Pianist Ethan Iverson formerly of the Bad Plus who Speake on Intention demonstrated the considerable rapport he has with the Common Practice standards boffin, and Jorgy Rossy, the drummer with Brad Mehldau when Brad was at the peak of his powers, are with Speake. Bassist Calum Gourlay completes the band.
