A decade since I heard Ibrahim Maalouf live for the first time on that occasion it was at the ICA in London, the Lebanon-born quartertone Arabic jazz trumpet and flugelhorn stylist from France was appearing that time on the same bill as Portico Quartet. Back in 2010 Maalouf was not very well known in the UK but a lot has changed since and he has become a big global crossover artist and celebrates his 40th birthday next week with the release of 40 Melodies. Qwest TV mark the occasion by broadcasting a concert filmed at the Arènes de Nîmes. The beautiful 'All Around the Wall' from the album is streaming. SG
