For the new track of the week we look to jazz guitar icon John Scofield's cover of Jerry Garcia's Grateful Dead anthem 'Uncle John's Band'. It's the title track of the upcoming trio release for ECM out on 13 October - Scofield joined by bassist Vicente Archer and drummer Bill Stewart. What a gentle, undulating, lilting treatment that like the music of Bill Frisell finds an ingenious way to join the dots between Americana and jazz, other material on this studio album recorded in America last summer include Bob Dylan's 'Mr Tambourine Man' and Neil Young's 'Old Man.'
